This website wants to play a tribute to a great artist, Gino Sandri . At the height of his artistic maturity he disappeared from the critics and public view because of his numerous confinements in psychiatric hospital from 1924 onwards.

This website wants to reconsider and reflect on his art as well as to postumously thank him for the devastating truth he communicated and left us in his critical essays, manuscripts and diaries.

The Gino Sandri Association was founded on 22nd October 2007. It is a non-profit making organisation and its aim is to promote, inform and publicise events about the artist Gino Sandri and his works. Participating in the association are psychiatrists, professional people with a love of art, artists, scholars and people of letters. Among the founding members are “Parco delle Groane”, which is made up of 16 town councils of the province of Milan and the town council of Ceriano Laghetto, also in the province of Milan. One of the main objectives of this newly founded association is to explore the extraordinary artistic production of Gino Sandri and also his ideas and written works. It will organise exhibitions, meetings, conferences and other social-cultural events in conjunction with local authorities, associations, institutions both public and private.

The portraits carried out inside the Asylum and the writings belonging to the Gino Sandri Archive were hailed as “particularly relevant and of historical interest” by the superintendent at Lombardy’s archive within the Ministry of National Assets and Cultural Activities, under law no. 42, issued on 22nd January 2004.

Manuscripts and masterpieces of the artist are available for exhibitions and conventions.
